“You are the entire ocean in a drop”- Rumi

 

“The Ocean in a Drop” is an art object I created during the first lockdown of 2020.

The world outside was in turmoil, but my life in the studio was calm and serene. My mind was silent, yet buzzing with the emotions of what we were going through individually and collectively.

 

Inspired by the depth of the ocean, the emotion of the pandemic and Rumi’s words is this art object that is special to me in many different ways.

 

Finish: Natural matt of the clay on the outer surface and glazed in gloss on the inner surface

 

Palette: Sea-blues, textured tones

 

Space: The art object should be placed slightly below eye level to enjoy the texture and flow of water both on the inside as well as the outside.
