How to recycle your clay

Step 1
● Clay can be recycled an infinite number of times until it is fired.
● Any clay that has hardened or an unfired piece that has broken can be kept aside for recycling

Practice pieces and chunks of clay that have dried up are sorted for recycling

 

Step 2
● Put all the bits of clay that need to be recycled into a container of water
● Submerge the clay completely in water so that it breaks down uniformly

Within a few hours or about a day, the dried bits of clay will break down completely into slip and settle down on the bottom of the container

Remove all the excess water in the container with a sponge

Mix all the lumps in the slip so that it has an absolutely smooth consistency

Now put this slip out to dry on a cloth

Step 7
After a few hours when the clay has dried to a soft consistency and lost its stickiness, it is ready to use. Knead it and pack in an airtight container or a plastic bag. Store in a col place away from sunlight.
