The Ghadai Demo by the Kumbhars of  Kutch at Hermes, Mumbai

As part of the Ghadai project, a special display of traditional works created by the potters for an online auction was hosted by the Hermes store in Mumbai. As part of this show, the visting Kutch potters had a brief and informal interaction with the studio potters from Mumbai where they also demonstarted their Ghadai technique.

 

 

 

 

The potters demonstrate their traditional technique called “ghadai” used for making large sized earthenware.

 

The Mumbai studio potters try it out themselves too.

 

The Kutch potters both young and senior demonstrate while the Mumbai potters capture some shots.
