The Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai

Visited the Bhau Daji Lad Museum at Byculla (next to the Zoo) a few months ago and was completely mesmerized by this absolutely gorgeous building! Superbly restored and refurbished in partnership with the Victoria n Albert Museum a few years ago, this piece of heritage architecture is a hidden gem in the heart of Mumbai city. The next time you are travelling to Mumbai or even if you have already been living here for ages, go visit; its a hidden gem with stories to tell.

The museum collection is nothing much to boast about, but it’s old and quaint. Of course, what caught my eye was an impressive collection of ceramics and pottery from Sir J J School of Art (my alma mater). The work dates back to a few decades ago when the workshops of the art school created works for the British empire.
