After Hours at The Pottery Lab

I often hear from several of my students about how long they have been wanting to learn and practise the arts but did not have access to either a facility, a teacher or simply to like-minded people. While we have been teaching the art of ceramics and pottery for several years now at my studio, I recently opened up my community studio – The Pottery Lab to the other arts and crafts as well.

As a part of this initiative, I collaborate with other artists working in different materials and design sessions that can be taught at the studio. An extension of this is an art club of enthusiasts called After Hours.

At After Hours, we meet weekly, choose a tutorial for the week and practise together during our 1.5 hour session. We learn from each other, experiment with the technique and materials and follow a disciplined and structured manner to build on the subject of the tutorials as well as the complexity level of the tutorial.

For the last few months, we have been pursuing water colours. Here are some snapshots of our sessions:

The Pottery Lab is steadily growing into a supportive community of art & craft enthusiasts. Our aim each day is not just to provide physical access to learning, but also to good teachers, the right teaching methods and to like-minded people!
